FAQ: Storing your massage cream

Here was her concern and my thoughts. Hope it helps all of you out there basking in the summer heat, as we are. Keep cool, take good care of your body, and enjoy all the fun summer brings!

"Hot office in Texas":
Just received my Ralph Stephens Medical Massage Cream that I love so much. My question is this: It says on the container (huge for a one-person office), to keep below 65 degrees. I live in hot South Texas and my massage room is only cooled, except for a fan, when I have clients in it. Maybe an average of 80 or so... Should I put the huge jar in the refrigerator? My home is kept at 78 degree average as well. My office is in my home. Thoughts? Has anyone put this product in the refrigerator?

My reply:
I want your product to stay fresh for you and your clients to enjoy! Given the climate there, I would advise that you dispense the amount you will work with for a one or two week stretch and refrigerate the remaining bulk amount.

It is safe to refrigerate the cream, and our lotions and oils too, and a good idea since they are much more natural than most other massage products. Refrigeration will not compromise the product integrity in any way. It will actually double the shelf life, in essence 'slowing the clock'. That way you don't have to worry about how quickly you are using it.

Keep the questions coming. We want the best for you, your practice and your clients!

In wellness ~
Melissa
