On the road again...
We just started working with Know Your Body Best (www.knowyourbodybest.com) who are absolutely super folks right in Toronto. So, along with them I attended the Ontario Massage Therapy Conference in Canada last week. Did you know that registered MTs in Canada complete 2,200 hours of training? Serious bodyworkers for sure!
I guess you often see exactly what you are looking for but I was really struck by how intercultural Toronto was and how much "alternative health" is more of a part of the fabric of everyday life and true wellness care. I really hope we can somehow manage to bring that spirit here via healthcare reform. There were small natural pharmacies and even a homeopathic supply store right in downtown Toronto! I was definitely a kid in a candy store. Speaking of candy store - I also visited House of Tea (www.houseoftea.ca) and spent over an hour immersed in teas that literally change you from the inside out. Amazing how much more there is to tea than we see here in our poor little baggies! IMHO this is the finest tea shop in the world. If you're in Toronto GO to House of Tea. Go to Know Your Body Best, too.
Cheers!

The thing you can't NOT do
I guess you could work somewhere else, doing something else. But being a massage therapist is its own brilliant reward. This inspiring article sums it up beautifully (copy and paste the following link into your browser address bar to go there):

Recently someone was complaining about a friend who dropped everything at a moments notice to work on a stranger in pain. She simply can't not help when there is a reason to be helping. Those are the people we learn the most from. The ones who really couldn't be somewhere else.
