"Ask Dianna"
Ask Dianna is a new feature where I answer your practice related questions. I realized that we often help massage therapists (and sometimes clients) with massage, product, and business related problems in the course of our regular phone conversations. I want to extend that personal connection to all of you through this blog. I look forward to discussing issues that matter to you. Click here to send me a quick message with your question (we'll keep your identity anonymous).

"I've been a full time massage therapist with a healthy practice for over 15 years. I'm observing many of my long term clients getting older and some are now in nursing homes. I care about these clients and want to continue working with them. What can I do?" Signed, Aging Practice
Dear Aging Practice, What a special opportunity your clients have brought you! Together you can continue your healing relationship wherever it takes you. At this stage, specialized training can help you give your clients what they need as their bodies and their lives change. From my own struggles with giving massages to clients in hospital beds, these challenges can be minimized with training and experience. I strongly recommend that you contact the Center for Compassionate Touch. Ann Catlin is devoted to teaching a gentle, therapeutic modality that provides a healing presence to elders, the ill, Alzheimers and hospice patients. Through intensive workshops and instructional videos, you can learn new ways to share your gifts with these clients. Your long term connection with your clients is part of their quality of life. You still have so much more to offer them. Warmly, Dianna Contact us through our feedback form or email us to let us know your thoughts.

Change of Seasons
Winter in Western Massachusetts was a glorious time. We still have two feet of fluffy, crisp, white snow on the ground and I enjoyed oodles of snow-shoeing with the girls. I even made snow angels! Now we're entering into spring and I hope you are celebrating the glories of the seasons wherever you are. Yours in health, Dianna

Get your Massachusetts State License NOW!
Yes folks, it is true. The most over regulated state in the Union has finally passed a law so that you do not have to get a license for each town you work in. You can get one handy, dandy, good-from-Williamstown-to-Provincetown Massachusetts license.
Who’s your grand-daddy?
The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Massage Therapy is allowing a 4 month period of time for therapists who are already practicing to be grandfathered into the state licensure. So speed counts!
Mass Chapter AMTA to the Rescue!
They’ve got a helpful, step-by-step guide to navigating the new regulations – remember they are an all volunteer run organization and they could really use your help. Go to their new site to get tips at www.massamta.org/index.php?id=5.
The actual state license applications are available online at www.mass.gov/dpl/boards/mt.
Let us know how it goes!
This is new territory so send us feedback on how the process is for you. Be sure to include your name, town in which you are working, and details or tips on how to easily navigate the process of going from a local license to a Massachusetts state license. We want to share this information to help other local MTs! Thanks, Dianna Contact us through our feedback form or email us to let us know your thoughts.

Meet your New England Neighbors in March
Many thanks to all of you wonderful long-time friends who came to visit us at the show. And thanks to all of you new acquaintances for giving us the opportunity to get to know you. You are the reason we do what we do!
~ Dianna and Melissa
Need CEU's? Want to network with other massage therapists? Need supplies? Seeking something new?
Come visit us at the 25th annual New England Regional Conference March 28th through 30th. We'll be at Booth #10 in the hotel atrium. Click here to see a list of exhibitors. The exhibits are free and open to everyone. We've planned some fun events at our booth:
- We think you have movie star potential! Meet our videographer, Gil, Friday, March 28th from 4 pm to 8 pm and tell him your experiences using Pure Pro products in your practice. Plug your business (we'll link to your website from ours) and share your experiences with other therapists nationwide. We always love hearing from you and surely Gil will too.
- We will be featuring our collaboration with the Center for Compassionate Touch. Come meet Lisa Curran Parenteau Friday, March 28th from 8 pm until 10 pm and Saturday, March 29th from 2 to 4 pm. Lisa will talk about certification opportunities for advancing your elder and hospice massage therapy techniques. Sign up for a workshop and get a free Compassionate Touch DVD!
The exhibits are FREE and open to everyone. You don't have to be an AMTA member to come, but after you see what they have to offer you might consider joining. This is a great opportunity for massage students, new LMTs, and anyone who loves massage to meet influential folks in the industry and connect with your neighbors.
